Dekalb Kids Issue #1:
Fall is a special time of year in DeKalb County. The air becomes cooler, the leaves begin to change, pumpkins appear on porches, and families come together to enjoy festivals, outdoor adventures, and Halloween fun. We are excited to celebrate everything this colorful season has to offer in the September/October edition of DeKalb Kids Magazine.
This magazine is especially meaningful to me because it was inspired by my own family. My wife, Alison, and I are the proud parents of two young children, Ethan, who is 5, and Riley, who is 2. Like many parents, we are always looking for opportunities to encourage learning, creativity, and imagination. Some of our favorite moments happen when we are reading together, exploring the outdoors, and watching our children discover something new.
Those experiences inspired me to create a free magazine that families throughout DeKalb County can enjoy together. In a world filled with screens and distractions, we want to provide something children and parents can sit down, read, and share while learning more about the world around them.
Inside this fall edition, you will find activities, stories, games, and educational features designed to make learning fun. Children can discover why leaves change colors, learn interesting facts about pumpkins and wildlife, enjoy Halloween jokes and movies. We hope these pages encourage your family to explore, create, laugh, and make special memories together this season.
As DeKalb Kids Magazine continues to grow, we look forward to covering even more topics that inspire children to learn, explore, and dream. Our goal is to create a publication families look forward to reading together—one that celebrates our community while helping young readers develop a lifelong love of learning.
On behalf of our entire staff, thank you for welcoming DeKalb Kids Magazine into your home. We are honored to share this fall edition with you and hope it brings plenty of curiosity, imagination, and meaningful family time.
